ff. 13-14:   “The Lives and manners of the Laplanders,” notes on a picture showing Lapp life, sent by William Allestree to Locke, 16 September 1673; endorsed by Locke “LAEI Lapland Explication of ye picture 73. The original picture sent by Allestree is probably lost; there survive, however, two coloured drawings by Locke’s manservant Sylvester Brounower, in an album belonging to Hans Sloane, who acquired it from William Charleton [British Library, Add. MS. 5,253, ff. 6-7], and an engraving by F. H. van Hove in Moses Pitt’s English Atlas, vol. 1 (1680).
