Books not owned by the Libraries

Books "on-shelf" at the Pattee Library and Paterno Library may be brought to the Reserves service desk in W113 Pattee Library for fastest processing*

Books that are checked-out to users will be recalled by Reserves staff. Please note that materials recalled for course reserve require an additional 10 days processing time to allow for return

Books available at other Penn State Library locations will be requested by Reserves staff and placed on reserve in Pattee Library. Allow one additional week for mailing

Reference books may be placed on course reserve only at the discretion of reference staff

Bound journals may be placed on reserve at the discretion of reserves staff. Unbound journals are not available to be placed on course reserve

Personal copies of materials not owned by the Library may be placed on Closed Reserve at Pattee. Closed Reserve books are kept behind the Reserves service desk and may be checked-out for room-use only to students for two hours

Reserves Services will purchase copies of books not owned by the Libraries at the request of an instructor. Books purchased for course reserve will be placed in the general collection when no longer needed for reserve. When completing the online request form, please include the ISBN numbers for any books requested for purchase. We cannot guarantee availablity for book purchases

Books ordered through Interlibray Loan from other universities cannot be placed on course reserve

*Although not required, bringing available copies to the Reserve Reading Room service desk will ensure that your material will be processed as efficiently as possible

Requests recieved at the beginning of the semester may take up to two weeks to process

Audiovisual Materials

CDs, DVDs, VHS tapes, etc. may be placed on course reserve in the Music and Media Center of the Arts and Humanities Library, W211 Pattee Library
