Using Office Delivery
Office delivery is available to University Park Campus faculty and staff. Any loanable material from the Libraries and Interlibrary Loan will be delivered to your departmental address via campus mail. This selection does not affect articles - they will still be posted to your ILLiad account online.
This service is available to faculty and staff who are registered with the Libraries and are in good standing. Materials should be delivered to your office within 3 – 4 business days. To ensure proper delivery of materials, please review your address information in both your CAT Account (Update Address tab) and ILLiad Account (Profile - Change User).
- Material will be checked out to your library or ILLiad account prior to being placed in campus mail. Due dates for restricted loan materials, such as DVDs, will be based on the date checked out, not the date received (see note about DVDs below).
- Material will be delivered to the departmental office address you provided in your CAT and ILLiad accounts.
University Park Faculty Staff Office Delivery FAQ
Who can request office delivery?
University Park Campus faculty and staff served by campus mail. This includes offices located in the State College area that are on the campus mail route.
How do I use this service?
The CAT: Each time you use “I Want It” to request material within the CAT, you are prompted to choose a pickup location. Select University Park Faculty/Staff Office Delivery from the drop down box.
E-Zborrow: When requesting an item from an E-Zborrow library, select University Park Faculty/Staff Office Delivery from the drop down box.
ILLiad: ILLiad retains your pickup location in your user profile. Within ILLiad, select “Profile – Change User Information” from the left menu bar. In the Pickup Location drop down select UP Faculty/Staff Office Delivery.
Before requesting, please be sure that your office address is correct in My Library Account, ILLiad and the PSU Directory.
Will I be notified when the material is sent?
You will receive a system-generated notice that your material is being sent.
How quickly can I expect library materials to arrive?
Most materials requested for office delivery should arrive within 3-4 weekdays. If you require library materials more quickly, come in person to the library. Delivery may be delayed if materials are checked out to other borrowers or arriving from other campuses or libraries. We cannot extend due dates to accommodate delivery times (see note about DVDs below).
If I do not receive my materials within a reasonable amount of time, who do I contact?
Use the "ASK a Librarian" button or email ul-ILLiadfirstname.lastname@example.org
What kinds of materials can I request for delivery?
Any loanable material that you can request in the CAT using “I Want It” or that you can request through E-ZBorrow or ILLiad are available for office delivery.
Some fragile or oversized materials, or any materials restricted to in-library use, may still require library pickup.
What are the due dates for my items?
Penn State owned materials fall under our Lending Code.
Interlibrary Loan material due dates vary depending on the lender and the type of material.
What are the borrowing limits for faculty and staff?
The Lending Services website regarding borrowing privileges can be found at http://www.libraries.psu.edu/psul/lending/borrowingprivileges.html
Why are my DVDs due in just a few days? Shouldn’t I have a week?
The loan period for most DVDs/videos is one week, however, all materials requested for office delivery are checked out to you prior to mailing, so delivery time will shorten the time that you have before the due date. Unfortunately, because delivery times will vary, we cannot change the due date to accommodate this.
DVDs/videos without holds may be renewed 8 times before returning. Recently released feature films and television programs, however, are likely to have holds for other borrowers and cannot be renewed. If you wish to keep DVDs/videos for a full week, we recommend that you pick them up at the library.
Can I cancel a request?
Yes. Log into your library account on the CAT website and remove the hold ("I Want It") or log into ILLiad to cancel an interlibrary loan request.
Can I return materials to the library in campus mail?
Yes, library materials may be placed in campus mail and returned to:
W107 Pattee Library
