Faculty and Staff Services

The Penn State University Libraries provide a variety of services directed specifically for faculty and staff. However, locally at the Nesbitt Library, we are happy to provide additional, targeted services for our campus community.

Course Reserves

We can place items on reserve from the Penn State University Libraries collections, or from a faculty member's personal collection.  In addition, we can purchase textbooks and place them on reserve.  Contact Megan Mac Gregor for assistance.

Research Assistance

Working on a grant application? Need help with your own research?  We can assist with identifying resources and locating relevant materials.  We may not be experts in your field, but we are experts in navigating and deciphering information.

Instruction and Collaboration

Nesbitt Library staff offer instruction services to any interested faculty. Types of instruction include, but are not limited to:

  • Training on Penn State University Libraries' databases and systems
  • Citation styles
  • Research methods and critical thinking
  • Project-based collaborations

Contact us at ul-wilkes-barre@lists.psu.edu to request an instruction session for your class! In addition, you may reserve any of our Group Study Rooms or our Instructional Lab for your own classes.

Requesting New Library Materials

Have you ever thought, “Our library ought to have that!”

Faculty recommendations for library purchases are essential for ensuring that our collections at Nesbitt Library fulfill the needs of our users and support teaching and learning here at Penn State.  You know best what library materials you will use in your teaching, and you know best the scope of student assignments that require use of library materials.

We encourage you to request books and audio-visual materials that will be useful in teaching and learning.  It will help you, your students, and the library.  After all, the purpose of Nesbitt Library is to support teaching and learning on our campus.

Contact any member of our staff with your request to purchase.
